Midland, TX – Onward Resources, a leading engineering and construction company specializing in the oil and gas industry, has secured a significant contract from a leading operator. The award reinforces Onward Resources growth trajectory as it quickly establishes itself as an innovative, go-to-partner for operators in South Texas.
The project will involve the provision of FEED, Procurement, Construction & Fabrication, and Commissioning & Start-up services for three 8-mile pipelines, co-located in a single trench, and the associate structures including launchers and receivers. This will support the infrastructure renewal program, with each new pipeline designed to have a 30-year lifespan, while increasing efficiency, output capabilities, and reducing overall operating costs.
The project has a significant number of challenges given its remote location, acidic soil conditions and the high levels of carbonic acid in the gas been transported. Onward Resources has innovated to solve these, and developed a holistic project plan which aligns with the customer.
The three pipelines consist of a 10-inch steel gas line, a 4-inch condensate line, and a HDPE Poly line for fuel gas. To ensure safe and efficient operation, the pipeline installation will utilize three different methods, each with specific quality and safety requirements.
The 10-inch steel gas line will transport compressed natural gas (CNG) from the compression station to a handoff point for sale, with a capacity of 120MMSCFD and a design pressure of 1,400 PSIG at 85F. The condensate line will transport condensate from a separator at the same station to a LP separator located at a sale point, with a capacity of 60MMSCFD.
Custom-designed launchers and receivers have been developed specifically for this project, considering the highly acidic soil conditions at the installation location, which would degrade normal foundations and SKIDS.
