Today’s buildings are rapidly evolving. Technology is allowing us to directly interact with our environments in ways that didn’t seem possible even a decade ago. Electrical system design is no longer as simple as lightning and power design overlaid onto an architectural background. The electrical system forms the foundation that makes the building come to life. It’s a responsibility that we take very seriously. We continue to balance the rigorous requirements of code compliance with practicality and aesthetic considerations for a design that supports the life of the building and delivers on our clients vision for the projects.
We provide an arc flash study in accordance with NFPA 70E, IEEE 1584 and IEEE 1584.1. Note that NFPA 70E (130.5) requires that the assessment must be updated whenever major modifications or renovations take place. Additionally, it requires that it must be reviewed at least every five years.
In order to perform an arc flash analysis, a short circuit study and protective device coordination study must be completed. These studies will provide the short circuit fault current levels and protective device (circuit breaker, fuse, protective relay) settings for your switchgear, motor control centers, panelboards, etc. Then it’s completed using the IEEE 1584 and NFPA 70E Standards to perform the incident energy analysis.
BSC has been engaged in the electrical industry since 1984. Our team has proven experience in electrical projects from the local level to national infrastructure joint ventures. We pride ourselves on exceeding expectations and a point of service uncommon in today’s market.
